Christmas was not exactly how we planned this year. Becca gave Stephen and I a stomach virus for Christmas, so we spent the weekend quite sick. But we still have some traveling to do, so Christmas isn't really over yet!

On Wednesday Becca was six months old. I realized this week that I haven't put any real updates on here in a while, so - if she'll stay asleep for a few more minutes! - I'll do that now.

She is rolling over both ways. She can sit on her own for a little while, although she will eventually fall over backwards or sideways. She has a tooth coming in on the bottom - it emerged during our week of illness, and doesn't seem to be bothering her too much, except that she will chew on anything and everything (see picture above). She is eating baby food and some cereal every evening, she's had squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, peas, and green beans so far and likes them all. She still doesn't love cereal, but she will eat it. I've been trying to give her some fruits on weekend mornings, but she doesn't seem to like those quite as much. She jabbers and "talks" all the time. It's constant, including shrieks and screams when she sees the dogs. She LOVES the dogs. She chases them in her walker around the house. They don't seem to mind her, although I think they are scared of the walker. For now they are really indifferent to her, but I'm sure as soon as she is old enough to pet them they will love her.

Her next doctor appointment is next week, for her six month shots. I'm guessing she weighs about 17 pounds. I think she's still a little big for her age, but her weight gain has slowed in the last few months. She is starting to outgrow six month clothes - I would say a few more weeks and she'll be in 6-9 or 9 month stuff. She is still a good sleeper, most nights sleeping from about 8 until I wake her up around 6:15 (during the week, anyway). She did go through a spell of not sleeping well a few weeks ago, but it was right when she was sick and teething.

So there's a little bit more of an update, and a picture for the week!

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything - we've ALL been sick in the past two weeks. Becca was almost over her ear infections when she came down with roseola, which apparently makes a baby break out in a head to toe rash! She's fully recovered now - here's some pictures from the last few days.

Becca got her first ear infection this past week - two actually, both ears were infected! She had a couple of fussy days, but she's getting back to her normal self.

Here's a picture from last week - we took a little trip to a local orchard to enjoy the nice fall weather.

We've been letting her attempt to eat some cereal and baby foods. Some nights it goes well, some nights...not so much. She was very unimpressed with peas.


She also hasn't quite figured out yet that she's supposed to jump in this thing. She usually picks her feet up and swings, or twirls around in circles. Hey, whatever works.

Becca went to the doctor yesterday for a 4 month check up and more shots. She weighs 15 pounds 8 ounces. Other than lots of drool, she's doing great. Here's a picture for the week!

Four Months Old

Becca was four months old yesterday. It seems impossible that she's this big already! Here's a picture of us taking her new bath seat for a test drive on the kitchen table (and she seems to like it just fine), and of her playing in her walker. She loves the walker, and although she can only move it a few inches at a time, she's figuring it out fast.

Three and a Half Months

Travel Time

Last weekend we took our first road trip, and went to see Stephen's family. While we were there Becca was baptized in the church Stephen grew up in, by the preacher that married Stephen and I . Here's a picture in her dress Sunday morning!

Three Months Old

Becca was three months old yesterday! Here's a picture of her from yesterday, hanging out in her swing.

Twelve Weeks: Back to Work

Becca is now twelve weeks old, and on Monday I went back to work. She isn't in daycare yet - Stephen is taking off 4 weeks to stay with her, and she'll start daycare the middle of next month. But for now, she's still at home.

This week she started to figure out how to roll over, but she isn't very consistent with it yet. She's holding her head up for a few seconds at a time, which was just long enough to take this picture in a Bumbo seat a few days ago:

Eleven Weeks: Follow Up

She did fine with her shots - a bit fussier than usual afterwards, but still sleeping fine and no fever. We also learned that our two and a half month old is apparently the size of a four month. At 13 pounds 5 ounces, she's in the 95th percentile for weight. Her length and head size both are in the 75th percentile. Overall, she's just a big baby! The doctor said she seems healthy and isn't concerned. She goes back for more shots in two months.

Eleven Weeks Old: Time for Shots

Becca is eleven weeks old today. She goes back to the doctor this afternoon for her first round of shots - we're not looking forward to it!

Two Months and One Week

Happy Fourth of July: Two Months Old

Becca was two months old yesterday. She has slept through the night, in her crib, for over a week now. The only downside is that she sleeps a little less during the day, and gets pretty tired and fussy some evenings. Even with that, she's doing really well. She still isn't completely holding her head up, although she does pretty good if she has just a little help. She's smiling a lot, too.

Eight Weeks Old

She'll be eight weeks old tomorrow. A few nights ago we moved her from the bassinet in our room to her crib in her own room, and she's doing great. The last two nights she has slept all night long (from about 9:30 to 5:30), so she must not mind it! Here's some pictures of her playing on her activity mat.

It may be a while before we can truly capture it with a camera, but she's starting to give little smiles at us, which is really adorable. She's also getting better at holding her head up, but still has a little trouble controlling it. She's making progress, though. Here's a picture from this week!

Six Weeks Old

One Month Old

Rebecca was one month old yesterday and on Wednesday she weighed 9 lbs 14 ounces. It's hard to believe it's been a month already!

Four Weeks Old

She's so much more alert these days. When she's awake she just looks around, and watches everything going on. She's also still growing fast - she's finally outgrown newborn diapers, and will probably only be in newborn clothes for another week at the most.

Three weeks old

Two weeks old

She was two weeks old on Monday, and growing like a weed. At her doctors appointment on Tuesday she was up to 8 pounds 7 ounces already. I can verify that she likes to eat!

First Real Bath

She got her first real bath last night in the kitchen sink. She seemed to really enjoy it - until we washed her hair!
